I am overwhelmed by God’s great work among us. Last night we held a Special Called Family Business Meeting to make some decisions concerning a complete remodel of our East Foyer. If you were unable to attend, allow me to fill you in on what you can expect following our meeting. First, starting this Sunday as you enter the East Foyer you will find that half of the entrance will be blocked off with a curtain. Behind this curtain will be the beginnings of a complete remodel of the North side of our foyer including opening up the wall between the foyer and the former choir room. This will grow our foyer space from 846 square feet to 1,728 square feet. In this new space a new cafe called The Gathering Place will be created that will include an espresso machine, brewed coffee, and many other possible amenities. This new space will also include a newly created Welcome Center where our guests can connect and find help navigating our facilities. First impressions are so important to first time guests, and this will be a tool to help us facilitate better interaction. Also included in this new remodel will be new flooring, paint, fresh tiles and updated lighting throughout the foyer.

A second phase of construction will begin to take place in the coming weeks on the south side of the east foyer as we begin to work in the former parlor to create the Reverend W. A. Treadwell History Center. In this new room, we will proudly display the many pieces of historical artifacts, pictures, murals, and other items that represent First Baptist Church's rich history. This will also become a conference room that can host the many committee, staff, and team meetings that are held in our building on a regular basis.

With all of this information, I now come to the most important part of this initiative, YOU. Facilities are just facilities! People make the facilities useful and effective. In the coming days you will be asked to consider serving in some significant way to utilize the facility tools to impact Kingdom advance. We already have many who serve on the Welcome Team (thank you for doing that!) but we will need more and we will need to be intentional in training you as you continue to serve effectively. Secondly, we will need baristas—people who are trained on the coffee equipment and will help us use The Gathering Place effectively. And if you don’t think you can find yourself in either of these roles, we will need help with construction and deconstruction. The remodel is beginning immediately and we have an ambitious goal to see it accomplished by May 19, 2019. We need your help in getting the construction finished. We will begin this Saturday, April 6, at 7:00 AM! Come as you can and help as long as you can. We will be doing deconstruction.  Donuts & coffee will be provided. WE NEED YOU!—young or old, man or woman. Many hands make light work. Above all pray!  Come on church! These are exciting times and this is an exciting project. Come help us get it accomplished!

I am excited! Looking forward to this great time working together!
I Love You, Church!
