Over the past two weeks we have been reminded that God loves us and pursues us. Oh what marvelous grace and kindness He displays to us. While we are yet still sinners, He has given us mercy and grace! As we recognize how great the Shepherd’s love for us is, we should also be filled with that love for one another. Who is the one that God has called you to love and pursue? Who is the one that He has placed on your heart to build a true friendship with? The world will know how our God is by how we love one another! As 2019 begins, stop often and recognize how great the Father’s love is for you, and then be intentional to love others in that same way. We truly need one another.

Also on Sunday morning I asked you to begin to pray about your involvement in several areas of focused ministry for 2019. There are 5 objectives I believe the Lord has placed before us, to give us a solid foundation as we move forward in ministry at FBC. The 5 are:

1. Develop and implement a church membership plan

2. Create a clear guest follow up plan with an integrated evangelism strategy

3. Increase our small group strategy to include home groups

4. Design a discipleship/leadership pipeline

5. Hire a music & media minister

This week we will take a very important step on objective number 5. We will vote at the close of both services on a 7 person with 2 alternate Music & Media Minister search committee. This will be done by secret ballot. Ballots will be dispersed among the church membership. Each person will be asked to write in the names of up to 7 people that could serve on the committee. Ballots will be tallied and the 7 people receiving the most votes will be asked to serve on the search committee. Beyond the 7 the next two top vote recipients will be named as alternates to the committee. This committee will then work closely with the Personnel and Finance committees to determine job descriptions and pay packages. I would ask you to begin praying now about who you will select for this search committee. This is an extremely important hire in many ways for our church. Your spiritual discernment is necessary as we proceed. Ask the Lord to grant you wisdom concerning your committee selections, and then pray adamantly for the committee that the Lord places together as they seek the man God has for us!

I am excited about all the Lord is going to do in and through our church in 2019! How will you serve Him faithfully as we continue forward Together?

 I Love You, Church!

SPECIAL THANKS

“Angel Tree 2018 reached almost 300,000 children with Christmas gifts and the Gospel across the nation and McAlester FBC was a crucial part of that ministry.  We reached at least 100 children in our area and I encourage you to pray for these children, their families and their incarcerated parents.  Prayer is essential to reaching each one for Jesus Christ and I thank you, church, for your commitment to give and serve His Kingdom.”
